Michaels Weekly P&P Challenge: Facebook SharePoint Integration?

For our kick off Michaels P&P I thought we would start off with the very topic that got this all started. Be sure to watch the video on how to participate in the challenge and have your voice and ideas heard. I will leave the challenge open until next Friday morning when I will post a new challenge. As people submit there clips I will post those and at the end aggregate all the submissions on a single video wiki page for that particular challenge. It’s easy, its fun, so climb aboard and start talking!

Hi Mike,

This is a real good idea to have a Facebook integrated in Sharepoint, today most of people know this 'application'.
I guess that could be great to get a Facebook page as MySite instead of the actual MySite.

SharePoint + Web 2.0 ... this is the futur :)

It's gonna be a nice blog's series.

"My Site" customization in MOSS 2007

Hi,
I am creating a Community Site in MOSS 2007 with customization and also want to use existing My Site(basically “My Pofile”) feature for each user’s profile like ORKUT fashion(which maintains GROUPS, FRIEND’s List, SCRAPBOOK, MESSAGES etc.). Can i use “My Site” feature of this purpose??
Can you please help me in this context??

Once the rpofile information is in MySite it can be pulled and re-sued within the same site collection. You might want to take a look at some 3rd party web parts from Bamboo or CorasWorks though rather than code your own. Also, this type of functionality is squarely the focus of NewsGator which sits on top of SharePoint to provide this type of functionality.

Going the other direction

We want to go the other direction, setting up a "secret" group on Facebook and pushing updates in Sharepoint to the group. Our employees are also on Facebook and we think that making enterprise news available to them (and obviously, ONLY them) via Facebook increases our relevancy and immediacy to them.

However, it doesn't appear you can get there from here due to the TOS. I can create the group, but to build the service to push updates I would like to create a custom FB profile for the service to login and post as. Businesses can't create user profiles, they can only create "pages", which are open to the world. One of our employee's FB profile accounts would have to be used to post the updates, but we didn't want these "automated" updates to come from a person, we want them to come from the "name" of our SP intranet.

I can't believe this can't be done because it seems like such an obvious thing to want to do. What am I missing?
