3/18/2010As we close in on the SharePoint and Office launch it has been a busy busy time in the tech world. At MIX we saw all the latest and greatest around Windows Phone as well as Silverlight. The announcements around the Apple iPad helped usher in the rising tide of slates that promises to be one of the big ongoing stories of this coming year. Google has been marching forward with their own mobile story pushing out yet another revision of their Droid platform starting today as well as catching many by surprise as word of Google TV efforts have flooded the online news channel. Finally we had the South by Southwest conference with enough geo goodness to keep geo location nuts like myself glued. With all of this happening it can be hard to keep up. To help you keep up here are links to some of my favorite stories from the past few days. Well I am sucking down the caffeine as I have a packed day ahead. After church with the family this morning it is off to an early Sunday meeting with the teen group my wife and I volunteer for. Then we are having our own little Gannotti house Super Bowl party with my parents who are visiting from California (BTW Skype with older parents rocks! Set them up yesterday). Lastly, before I head off to bed I have to complete my mid year discussions paperwork as I have my mid year review with my manager tomorrow. Busy, busy, busy! Before I kick off the crazy day though I do have this weeks must reads. So grab your favorite morning beverage and enjoy :-) SharePoint: Office: Other Tech: 1/25/2010As a new week starts I am looking forward to getting some new video content done. I will be traveling for three of the days this week so I will have the chance to complete some new Michael on the Go videos. I also have two new Social Media Samurai videos planned that I hope to get to after work today. In the meantime though there have been quite a few other folks out there creating some great content around SharePoint, Office, as well as other techie content. So once again grab a morning cup of your favorite beverage and take a taste of some techie tidbits. I have started the initial planning around a series of SharePoint events here in the southeast. I may be constrained by my job in where I can go and speak about SharePoint but I am excited about the opportunity to hit some areas in my geographic coverage this spring. At a minimum there will be SharePoint/Office 2010 mini conferences (looks like each will be 2 days in length) held in Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Atlanta GA, and Birmingham AL. I am also looking at the possibility of holding events in Charleston SC as well as Asheville NC. After next weeks internal meetings I should have some additional information as well as dates and format that I can pass along so stay tuned. I am getting a chance to break free of my geography to speak at ShareFest in Philadelphia PA that is being held April 8th and 9th. As of yesterday it looks like I will be delivering the day 2 keynote and am very excited to do so. ShareFest is a SharePoint conference focused on the life sciences industry so if you are in a pharma company or other related life sciences organization I hope to see you there. Should be a great event! With all the meetings and planning going on in my own little world I did some surfing around at 5am this morning to check on what has been happening in the cyber world in regards to SharePoint, Office, and just plain cool tech and as usual it has been busy busy. So without any further delay here are some great reads, including a few from yours truly (socialmedia focused 3 part postings). So pour a cup of your favorite steaming, caffeine laced beverage, and enjoy these tasty online treats. Oh… and have a great weekend everyone!! SharePoint: Office: Other Tech: Technorati Tags: Microsoft, SharePoint, Office, Geocast, Photosynth, PowerPivot, Excel, Access, InfoPath, Visio, Kodu, Natal, SocialMedia, Gannotti, Technology1/9/2010I am getting set to hit the road today for a 2 day road trip up to Steubenville Ohio and back. I am taking my son Sam back to his college, Franciscan University, and my daughter Mary is coming along for the ride. Along the way I will be doing some geocasting using my Windows Phone and IncaX LiveMedia GPS. I also am bringing along my new Canon Rebel digital SLR to try a Photosynth on a building on campus while I am there. I may even drag my kids in to some of my Productivity Adventure madness along the way. Before I take off however, it has been a busy, busy week in the worlds of SharePoint, Office, and especially the gadget tech world! This past week was CES and all kinds of goodies were shown. I think my own personal favorites were the HP Slate shown running Windows 7, the Blio eReader software that I think will turn the eReader world on its head, and the increasing pervasiveness and advance of the Microsoft auto systems (advances in Synch on Fords, use by Fiat, and now the use by Kia under the name Muvo). So without further pause here are some of my favorites from this past week for you to enjoy this weekend. Office: Other Technology: 12/13/2009As we get closer to the year end you would think that things might slow down a bit. Instead in the world of productivity and technology things continue along at a fast pace. I was looking over Twitter and Facebook yesterday and saw that there was a lot of activity around another SharePoint Saturday. There has also been all kinds of information around the holidays concerning all sorts of retail techie news particularly on the mobile phone front. Well if you have a few spare minutes today I have put together a listing of all my favorite stories and postings from this past week. So grab your coffee and click away. SharePoint: Office: Other Tech: 12/7/2009Getting ready to hit the road for Charlotte for a day of SharePoint 2010 goodness with a client. Before I do though there were quite a few great reads in the worlds of SharePoint, Office, and tech from this past week. So after scouring the Internet here they are for your reading pleasure. SharePoint: Office: Other Tech: 11/30/2009Well it was nice to have a week off from work to relax, decompress and spend time with the family but it’s Monday and time to get back at it. Right now I am enjoying a steaming cup of coffee as a get ready to head out to an all day client onsite. It is a social computing architectural design session and should be interesting. While I was out there was a lot happening in the worlds of SharePoint, Office, and technology, so I would pass along some good reads to kick off your new week.
